SUBTERRANEAN RESIDENCE IN ANTIPAROS ISLAND, SOUTHERN AEGEAN, GREECE

The plot is located outside the municipal zoning area of Antiparos Island, on a steep slope. The formation of the terrain led to the design of a subterranean, embedded in the earth, building. For its single exposed elevation, local stone is chosen, resulting in a perfectly harmonizing structure, lost in its landscape, leaving a minimal visual imprint on the slope of the island. Internally, the living room, dining room and kitchen are arranged on a single floor plan. The horizontal communication is achieved through a corridor leading to the three bedrooms of the house, which are located on the same level. In addition to the front yard that is oriented overlooking the sea, three other patios are created at the rear of the building with rock gardens, so as to ensure lighting and ventilation of all areas.
